boucherouite #15
Availability
"Boucherouite" translates in Moroccan to something close to "king of the leftovers." These energetic and eclectic free form rag rugs hand-woven by tribal Berber women from discarded scraps and recycled fabric and materials combine abstract art with ingenuity and resourcefulness. Each carpet is a truly one-of-a-kind and unique work of art. As a recent article in the New York Times stated, "They seem more suitable for framing than trampling underfoot."
“Boucherouite rugs make the tough art of weaving look like fun.”
– Hollander Cotter, The New York Times
“This new take on an old tradition has yielded some dramatic results and I am a full fledged fan.”
